Welcome to St. Michael’s College

I came to the university after playing four years of hockey in the OHL and even attending an NHL training camp. I expected an adjustment, but the support staff at St. Mike’s made the transition easy. They’ve supported me on and off the ice, which has been essential. Balancing school and hockey is a challenge—but representing this great U of T community is worth it. I’m excited for what the future holds.

I really found the St. Mike’s spirit during orientation and was proud to be a student. In first year, I was part of the Gilson Seminar, which was an important experience—intellectually and socially. Since then, my time working in Student Life has shown me the value of having a supportive community. That desire to champion a diverse, welcoming and supportive community is something I’ll carry with me.

USMC changed how I think about the liberal arts. I had planned to study actuarial science but found myself drawn to the Gilson Seminar. I ended up majoring in Book & Media Studies, with minors in Christianity & Culture and mathematics. These St. Mike’s-sponsored programs helped me discover a path I’m excited about—and one I see myself pursuing long term.

With guidance from my university, department, college and friends, I’ve committed to curiosity and a love for beautiful mathematics over material gain. U of T has provided high-quality education and opportunities for research, here and abroad. At the same time, St. Michael’s has given me a place to grow and belong. There’s nothing more empowering than feeling believed in—and throughout my time here, that belief has inspired me.
