Xianwei Wu is an Assistant Professor at SMC’s Book and Media Studies program. She primarily teaches about East Asian media and digital media culture, including Social Media and Digital Platforms, Transnationalism and East Asian Media, Fandom and Fan Fiction, and the infamous Boy’s Love and the Culture of Desire. She has been published in journals such as PLoS, Health Communication, and Transformative Works and Cultures, and presented in numerous conferences. She is currently working on projects about Chinese web short dramas, and Heated Rivalry. In her spare time, she enjoys everything nerdy and fannish, like watching anime, collecting merch and occasionally reading and writing fan fictions.
